AiiDA v3.0 at SETAC!
Preview presentation of AiiDA (Aquatic Impact Indicator Database) version 3.0 at SETAC, Basel on May 15th 2014.
New and future environmental regulations require to have a vision of the environmental profile of chemical substances and products. In spite of huge efforts done since 30 years to run ecotoxicity tests for thousands of substances, it is still complex and time consuming for scientists to get a clear perception of the potential risk or impact of a chemical substance.
It is the purpose of AiiDA to provide a quick and clear overview of most available ecotoxicity data for more than 22 000 substances and a detailed calculation of the main risk and impact metrics commonly used in the HC50, HC5 and PNEC regulations.
Cycleco and Tools4Env have been working since several years on this database and were proud to present AiiDA at the SETAC in Basel last 15th of May. The database is now covering about 500 000 test results and provides detailed graphical presentations of nearly 30 000 SSD and PSD (Species & Phyla Species Sensitivity Distribution). 20% of commercialized substances are now covered by the database. 38 000 PNEC (Predicted No-Effect Concentration) are given with a corresponding uncertainty.
So far, a major problem was associated to the missing transparency of the indicators calculation. With the objective of over passing this limitation, AiiDA provides a full traceability of the indicators presented in an online library of ecotoxicity tests of nearly half a million tests. Furthermore, in order to avoid any confusion in the identification of the substance, AiiDA also provides a detailed description of each molecule including the name, CAS and EC numbers, empirical formula, 3D representation, molar mass, solubility and main uses of the molecules.
Last but not least, the V3 of AiiDA also offers the possibility to run substance comparison. Interactive and user friendly values are stackable and allow comparing SSD of substances. Each substance (or any group of substances) can be presented on a relative toxicity curve, allowing a quick view of the impact.
Most of these functionalities are reported on our SETAC poster. Please click here to download it: Poster SETAC BASEL- Aiida
