REACH or nothing!
AiiDA and « Environmental footprinting with USEtoxR » 100% REACH? This actually is the route explored by the European Commission who asked Cycleco to update its AiiDA and « Environmental footprinting with USEtoxR » databases using data exclusively originating from REACH.
The ultimate goal is to have physico-chemical and ecotoxicological data exclusively originating from REACH. The data’s update will have to go through a great number of criteria and will lead to a « 100% REACH » AiiDA database. This will allow to provide highly accurate HC50 (Hazardous Concentration 50%) for AiiDA and CF (Characterization Factors) for « Environmental footprinting with USEtoxR » on a lower set of data. This could be useful within the context of the European products Environmental Footprint.
REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) is a European Union regulation dated 18 December 2006. It addresses the production and use of chemical substances, and their potential impacts on both human health and the environment.
AiiDA (Aquatic Impact Indicator Database) is a worldwide database providing aquatic ecotoxicological tests developed by Tools for Environment.
« Environmental Footprinting with USEtoxR » provides a database of new and updated characterization factors for more than 7000 substances based on the USEtoxR model.
